Formative Feedback Presentation 2

Formative Feedback Presentation:

Final Concept Slide:

Our final concept remained the same from the start to the finish of this project. our concept is to showcase the connection between family and Northern Soul through visiting my favourite places in Sheffield to celebrate Sheffield street style whilst including Northern Soul references.

Final Rationale Slide:

We decided on this concept because everyone who was part of the Northern Soul scene felt like it was a family to them. For me Sheffield has meant family as my brother lives in Sheffield, therefore this led to inspiring the concept of this photoshoot to show the connection between Northern Soul and family. This also led to the decision to have my brother and I as the models for the photo and video shoot to represent the family connection.

Styling Outcome Slide:

I am wearing wide leg corduroy trousers to represent the Oxford style wide leg trousers Northern Soul dancers wore to keep themselves cool whilst dancing. Joe is wearing a polo shirt to represent the popular brands that were involved in the scene such as Fred Perry. He is also wearing pin badges on his denim jacket to represent the sew on patches Northern Soul fans wore on their jackets and bags to show what club they were a member of. We are both wearing Doc Marten's shoes to tie the outfits together and to reference Northern Soul style beginnings which originated from Mod style.

Photography Outcome Slide:

For photography we went to many different locations including street art locations by artists such as Kid Acne, Jo Peel and Phlegm. We also visited many independent Sheffield stores to keep that link to Sheffield style. We played around with different angles and poses focusing mainly on candid shots to keep a fun feel to the photoshoot as we didn't want it to be too serious as the concept is based around family.

Final Image Slide:

For our final image we wanted the main focus of it to be the image of Joe and I hugging to really get across our concept of family. We also wanted to include other photos because we went to so many locations so we wanted to showcase this. We also really liked the image of the Northern Soul sign in a pub called the Frog and Parrot as this obviously adds to the Northern Soul theme.

Photo Edits Slide:

We both did some creative editing to develop our photoshop skills and to have a variety of different images rather than just the raw images.

Promotional Materials Slide:

We both created a poster and a leaflet to promote the exhibition and we both ended sticking to a similar colour scheme.

Learning and Development Slide:

We've both learnt how to shoot and edit a video and how to work Adobe Premiere Pro. We've developed our photo editing skills using photoshop and our creative thinking for Indesign to think about the layout and spreads of our strategy manuals. We also learnt what its like to work in a group and how to time manage especially when we live apart from each other as Elise and I do.

Planning and Project Management Slide:

We made sure to have a shooting schedule and shot list so that the photoshoot day ran smoothly. We also had back up and extra locations as we ended up having extra time on the day so we were able to shoot at more locations. There were also some locations that we weren't able to access so the extra locations came in handy.
