Strategy Manual Second Draft















For my second draft of my strategy manual I changed multiple things including:

- The front cover because I thought that my original front cover looked quite boring and I thought the new front cover with the words around the circle gave the impression of a record spinning.
- I also added in a double page spread photo after the front cover and before the back cover to give the manual a cohesive beginning and end and to include more images from the photoshoot.
- Next to the contents page I replaced the image with the definition of Northern Soul to show what the general idea of Northern Soul is and so it can be compared to my definition of Northern Soul and my concept.
- I changed the layout of the Northern Soul and Northern Soul today pages as I didn't like how the mood boards looked and decided to include different Northern Soul themed images instead and placed them as circles to give the impression that they are like the sew on patches that Northern Soul fans would wear on their jackets and bags to show their club membership.
- I changed the layout of the location pages as I didn't think the original layout fitted right.
- I added a double page spread for the short film as it was made to go along with the photoshoot so I thought it was worth mentioning in my strategy manual.
- I also edited the visual display image to include small annotations to explain the display.

The concept of the shoot is a brother and sister visiting their favourite locations and stores in and around Sheffield to showcase family, whilst including references to Northern Soul and Sheffield street style through the places we visit and the garments we wear. As the brother and sister in the shoot is going to be myself and my brother we are going to visit our favourite street art locations as they are a big element of Sheffield and why we like the city. We are also going to visit our favourite vintage stores, Mooch Vintage and Vulgar Vintage as we both personally love to source our fashion from vintage stores and this is also a big trend around Sheffield and Sheffield street style and a popular trend in general. We are also going to visit Bear Tree Records as my brother in particular likes to collect music on records and we can include Northern Soul music references from here.

What does Northern Soul & Sheffield street style mean to me? > Before this project I had only heard the term 'Northern Soul' but never knew what it was or what it meant. > After researching the subculture the aspect of Northern Soul that stuck out to me the most was that everyone that was involved in the scene said that it felt like a family to them. > To me, Sheffield has meant family as my brother lived in Sheffield before I did so I always associated Sheffield with seeing him. > Therefore my brother and I are going to feature in the video and the photoshoot to convey this theme of family.
